An overwhelming number of exhibitors in the sign and graphic industry have taken over the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Thousands of attendees roam the facility networking, buying, selling, and much more at the 2015 International Sign Expo. Here are a few highlights from the vehicle wrap end of the spectrum.
Matt from PHENOMenal Vinyl demo’d the Hexis film on a Porsche Cayman. Their main focus was on their brand new Carbon Fiber film which boasts some amazing properties such as a 30% stretch rating and an outstanding memory with no weave distortion! In addition, the new glossy finish makes this one of the most realistic looking carbon fiber wrap on the market today.
In Addition, Hexis also hosted a timed wrap challenge throughout the day. The challenge is essentially an obstacle course for the graphic installer; a board made up of complex curves and features designed to create a challenge for even the most skilled installers. There is a time limit involved but the object is not who can wrap the fastest, but the one who can wrap the best within the time limit. The winners then compete against each other within a shorter time frame.
3M Showcased their new eco friendly Envision film. Adam from Wrapix Academy, Dennis from Lowen Color Graphics, and Jomar Wraps installed the wrap on a Tesla Model S but not without the help of a small volunteer to pull the Knifeless tape on their hood!
Seiko demo’d their printers having Ape Wraps and Carl of The Wrap Installers wrap up a C7 Corvette in Avery 1005SC, Avery Satin black, and Avery Brushed Black. Although the photos are of an unfinished project, the film and graphics look fantastic!
Arlon‘s booth was in full force showcasing their DPF 6000XRP film for full vehicle wraps. They showcased a Ford Transit wrapped up in both a color change film and printable vinyl. No wrap demo’s from Arlon unfortunately.
